You might be surprised to learn that not all goat milk soaps are created equal.

While some soap makers proudly proclaim the inclusion of goat milk, a closer look might reveal the use of powdered goat milk, pre-made mixes, or even melt-and-pour bases. While these options offer convenience, they often involve additional processing and heat that can diminish the natural goodness of goat milk.

---Don't Be Fooled---  Some soaps advertised as "goat milk" soaps are really made with using melt and pour bases or powdered milk.---

The Power of Raw Goat Milk

Raw goat milk is a powerhouse of nutrients, packed with vitamins, enzymes, and natural fats that are beneficial for the skin. These elements contribute to a luxurious, moisturizing lather that leaves skin feeling soft and supple. Our goats receive regular protein and mineral supplements to further enhance their quality of life.

The Journey from Farm to Soap

Our soap-making process begins right here on our farm. We nurture our own herd of goats, providing them with the care they need to produce high-quality milk. This allows us to control every step of the process, from the pasture to the finished bar of soap. We also enjoy the fresh milk ourselves, using it to make yogurt and chevre.

Working with goats and their raw goat milk is a labor of love.

Unlike powdered milk, which is shelf-stable and easy to store, farm fresh raw milk requires careful handling. We use food-grade processes throughout, including meticulous filtering and freezing techniques, to preserve the milk's beneficial properties for yogurt, chevre,  and Cold Process Soap making.

The real challenge comes during saponification, the chemical reaction where oils and milk transform into soap.

This process generates heat, which can potentially damage the delicate enzymes and nutrients found in raw goat milk. Through extensive research and experimentation, we developed a unique method to maintain low temperatures during saponification. This ensures that the natural goodness in our raw goat milk is fully retained.

Why Raw Matters

The standard process for creating powdered goat milk involves pasteurization, concentration, and spray drying. Pasteurization uses high heat, which can degrade many of the milk's natural qualities, including heat-sensitive vitamins and enzymes. The natural fats in goat milk can also be altered during the powdering process. While powdered milk offers convenience, it simply can't match the richness and purity of raw goat milk.
